Buon Ferragosto

It’s been another glorious summer in San Diego and as it winds down, nostalgia sets in and encourages one to look back on all the fun and adventure that has taken place. This year, the season was filled to the brim with personal highlights, including my trip to Italy and the fantastic celebration that it inspired upon my return.

In Italy, every August 15th marks the summertime holiday, Ferragosto. This is one of the most beloved Italian traditions, commemorated with relaxing beach vacations, music, dances, parades, and most importantly, feasts with friends and family. After my trip, I wanted to bring a little piece of Italy home to all my American friends and colleagues, which spurred the idea to have our very own Ferragosto White Party here in San Diego.

What better place for a summer soiree than the beachfront patio of Caroline’s Seaside Café overlooking Scripp’s Pier and the La Jolla coastline? The restaurant was completely transformed, with the help of Tenfold Style and Classic Party Rentals. Clean lines and modern metallic art pieces were juxtaposed with natural elements such as lush potted plants, sandalwood branches, and fresh fern leaves. Splashes of blue popped out against the surrounding white and neutral tones to complete the beachy theme.

Of course, no Ferragosto is complete without a fabulous feast, so my team prepared just that. The menu featured tender Angus beef, succulent salmon, and slow-roasted chicken paired with summer salads including a peewee fingerling potato salad, chilled farfalle pasta salad, toasted farro salad, and chopped salad. We raised our glasses with signature cocktails and glasses of rose as the sun began to set. DJ Noel and a smooth saxophonist from Rezident Management bumped the latest beats to keep us moving long after last light.

As the night came to a close, I was overwhelmed with appreciation for the many friends and colleagues that came out to celebrate. It was an evening of great company, gorgeous scenery and memory-making that was better than I could have imagined. Thank you to all those who made it an unforgettable night. Cheers to what has been a wonderful summer, to wonderful friends and colleagues, and to many great times and successful endeavors ahead!

    The food on our wedding day was AMAZING. I'd been dreaming about that meal ever since our tasting, and it totally lived up to the hype I created in my mind!

    Justin and I both received numerous compliments about the food that night -- "Those mashed potatoes though!!!" "I wish I could stuff these raviolis in my purse!!!" "Best wedding food EVER!"

    Needless to say, we and our guests were all highly satisfied with our meal, and I loved that we decided to go family style, as it really encouraged sharing and conversing over the food. I would also like to add that the service staff was exceptional. They were prompt, attentive, and responded to every request, big or small, with, "We can make that happen."

    The food was FANTASTIC. I only regret that I did not get to eat MORE of the food that night, although I made sure to shovel in some scoops of mashed potatoes and braised short ribs. I would love to be able to go back in time and eat some more in a relaxed setting!

    Thank you for all that you did to make our wedding day memorable! We are SO glad we chose Giuseppe (it was not a hard choice at all!).
