Just stopped by one of our favorite farmers, Pure Food. Best kale in town!

As a restaurateur, I have a special appreciation for fresh-picked produce and the best all-natural ingredients. My trips to the La Jolla Open Aire Market are one of the highlights of my weekends, and I often bring home bags of fresh ingredients to make at home on Sundays.

One of my most recent finds was a beautiful basket of fresh tomatoes from Valdivia Farms that I transformed into a pomodoro and basilico sauce and tossed with spaghetti alla chitarra. Simple and delicious!

Here is a list of a few of my favorites from the market:

Blue Heron Farm:
They are my go to for their tender baby greens and baby Swiss chard as well their strawberries when they are in season.

Sage Mountain Farm:
They have wonderful wild arugula and rapini.

Valdivia Farms:
Any of their tomatoes and summer squash are always delicious.

Smith Family Farms:
The crisp and juicy apples are ideal for baking or just for snacking.

Spring Hill Farm:
This stand has fresh butter that is rich and creamy and tastes incredible.

Charlie’s Best Bread:
They use only the best ingredients in their breads including my favorite honey whole wheat.

Pure Food Corp: They are our exclusive kale vendor at Bottega Americano.
